William the Watchmaker was born in in Bolton in 1835, and was working in Baldwin Street in 1858, and by 1861 he had moved to number 41 Cheapside (Newport Street).
He had an apprentice Joshua Sisson in 1861, and in 1868 moved out the shop to be replaced by Samuel Greenough.
In 1869 he was listed at next door in 43 Newport Street.
A mother of pearl inlaid Rosewood cased drop-dial Wall Clock, by William Isherwood, the single fusee movement having Roman numerals.
