Joseph Arkinstall, was the father of Joseph Edward Arkinstall, and both were listed as Watchmakers.
Joseph (Senior) was Born in Aston Birmingham, and Later married his wife Elizabeth Hannah Horton, before moving to Bolton where he started his family.
Living at 3 Blackburn Road where he operated his shop, he got into financial difficulties, and was facing the Bankruptcy process in 1890.
By 1901 the family were living at 55 Vallets Lane, but were still trading from Blackburn Road.
A partnership was formed by Joseph (Senior) and Edward Horton from Aston, Edward was also a Watchmaker and was Joseph’s Brother-in-Law, as Joseph had married his sister.
Horton and Arkinstall operated from No. 3 Blackburn Road Little Bolton.
By 1923, Joseph and his wife were living in Birmingham and Emigrating to Australia on the Orient Line Ship, Oritivo, bound for Adelaide.
