Joseph Arkinstall was joined by his Father-in-Law Edward Horton, who moved to Bolton and was living there, at 16 Avondale Street, in 1901.
A watchmaker and Jeweller from Birmingham, Edward arrived after Joseph had faced the bankruptcy process. Together they formed a partnership, in the existing retail premises at 3 Blackburn Road.
The partnership is assumed to have lasted until Edward died in January 1914. Edward was buried in St. Peter’s Halliwell.
