Edward Horton from Aston Birmingham, a watchmaker in his own right, was the father in Law of Watchmaker Joseph Arkinstall, who had married his daughter Elizabeth Hannah Horton, before moving to Bolton.
Joseph faced financial difficulties and was facing Bankruptcy in 1890, by 1901 Edward was living in 55 Vallets Lane, Bolton.
A partnership was formed with Edward seeming to be the senior partner, Horton and Arkinstall who continued to operate from Arkinstall’s premises at 3 Blackburn Road.
Edward died in 1914 and is buried in St Peter’s Halliwell.
