Watchmaker James Tonge married Isabella the wife of Thomas Partington in 1881, Isabella was already trading as Mrs Partington “Watchmaker and Jeweller”.
James and Isabella, then continued to trade in Market Street, before moving into Mathers Court by 1891 and finally Bridgewater Street in Farnworth by 1901.

This would indicate a slow decline in social status and living conditions, it’s unsurprising that Isabella died in 1905.
