Isabella Partington (1870 – 1881)

Isabella Partington, born in Kirkby Malham on 6th September 1842 the wife of watchmaker Thomas Partington, was listed in Warrells Directory of 1871 as the proprietor of the Watchmakers and Jewellers near the Black Horse Pub in Farnworth, this would be on Higher Market Street today, and would presumably have been the business of her husband before it was raised in her name.

On 2nd of March 1881 Isabella then married watchmaker James Tonge of Farnworth and were listed at 69 Market Street in the 1881 census.

By 1891 they were living at 2 Mathers Court off Market Street / Nelson Street. By the 1901 census they are living at 85 Bridgewater Street in Farnworth, with James working at home.

Isabella died on the 2nd of May 1905.
