A jobbing watchmaker Born in Kinnellar, Scotland of a Non Conformist family he lived at 37 Lyndhurst Street, Little Bolton.
In 1863 he had been a witness to the testing of Chatwoods Safe, however by 1867 he was facing Bankruptcy and assigned all his states and effects to his creditors.

He maintained a shop, still listed at 24 Market Street Bolton, listed in the Slaters Directory of 1869.
Antique Silver Cased, Silver Dial Fusee Pocket Watch. This watch measures 50mm in diameter and weighs 106 grammes. The silver case with Chester hallmarks for 1863. The movement reads “Wm Corken Bolton Market Street”
