Like his younger brother Saul, Leon was born in Austria and was living in Bolton in 1911, and working as a watchmaker in his father Jacob’s Shop in Great Moor Street.
Leon appears in 1916 as a jeweller in his own right working in Chapel Alley, off Deansgate. In 1927, Leon had a shop at 32 Bath St. In 1932 Directory he was a radio dealer at 1 Wickliffe St, the previous home of Saul.
It is assumed Leon probably went into the Great Moor St business following the death of his father.
