John Jackson of Bolton was born in 1688 and worked as a Watch Maker. John married Cicely Rigby on 1st Jan 1711 at All Saints Church Wigan.
He spent most of his working life in Pemberton and Wigan and the surrounding area.

A marriage bond was a contractual obligation that required the person and or their bondsman (usually a close friend or relative) to pay a penalty charge if their declaration that there was no lawful impediment to their marriage was false. After 1823 marriage bonds were no longer made.
John Jackson died in Wigan in 1755.
