John Isherwood, born in 1811 is first known as working as a watchmaker in 1851 at 12 Newport St, later moving to number 61 where his wife and daughter took on a partnership in his business, and after his death traded in their own names of Charlotte and Esther Isherwood.
John later worked from his store at number 89 Bridgeman Street, and 61 St Helens Road, before his death in 1873.
Simon Richards his sone in law took over the premises at 61 Newport Street, where he lived with family and his mothering law Charlotte.
John was also the father to watchmaker William Isherwood.
