John Fallows was a Quaker, who was born in Cheshire, a resident of Bolton, he married Esther Salterhouse and lived in Bolton until his death in 1797.
Quakers were very active about this time, and it is likely that John was apprenticed within the group of Quaker clock and watch makers, before starting out by himself. Quakers often left their clocks and watches unsigned as an act of modesty, and so it is unlikely that any of his works would be identified, and none are know to exist.
The marriage certificate of John Fallows at 1792 one of the earliest documented watchmakers in the town.
