John Brownbill was a watchmaker born in Liverpool and working in Bolton. His brother James remained in Liverpool in his premises at 6 Prussia Street.
John Lived at Union St Little Bolton in 1891, but by 1901 he was a widower, and a Pauper inmate in the Bolton Union Workhouse, and sadly he died in 1907.
This watch engraved by a different hand than the main engraving, is from the Liverpool address but is clearly attributed as the the work of John.
It is possible that it was his apprentice work as he would be about the age to have completed that and be working independently.
