Thomas Blackledge a Clock Maker was born in Chorley on 24th November 1814 the son of James Blackledge, a gardener from Heapey.
Thomas married Ellen Hornby at St Peter’s Church Bolton on 7th Dec 1834. Together they raised their family and lived in Little Bolton.
For a brief period after their daughter Mary was born in Bolton in 1847, it seems they lived at 2 Cross Street, Off York Street, in Hull and they were included in the 1851 Census, and their son Joseph was born there in 1853.
In the 1865 Census they were back in Little Bolton and at 23 Back Charles Street, where he is listed as a Clock Dresser, and again at the same address in the 1871 Census.
Ellen Died in 1871 and Thomas still a Clock-Maker, married Martha Atkinson on 7th June 1873 in Bolton. Martha was a Widow, her father Samuel Duckworth and her were from Darwen.
Thomas and Martha lived together at 19 Back Turton Street, Little Bolton, where he continued as a Clock Dresser.
Thomas died in July 1888, and was buried on 28th July 1888 at Tonge Cemetery.
There are no known examples of his work.
