Richard Baynes (1855-1861)

Richard Baynes one of the few clockmakers from Astley Bridge.

He started trading in Astley Bridge in 1855, where his daughter Margaret Ellen Baynes was also baptised the same year.

He later moved to the town centre, starting at 108 Higher Bridge Street in 1858, and then moved onto Bradshawgate in 1861.

He was discharged from a Bankruptcy hearing in 8th Jun 1861, by the judge Justice R Segar Esq. ‘as it was disgraceful to subject themselves to prison for such a small amount’
