Born in Farnworth in 1808 Joseph was a watchmaker listed as working in Manchester Road in Farnworth in 1861. he them moved and worked from 63 Market Street, next to the “Rose and Crown” from 1861-1873.

Joseph Greenhalgh was the grandfather of the Farnworth Watchmaker Richard Greenhalgh.
In 1881 he was living with Richard and his family at 10 King Street form where he ran his business.
Richard took over the business and ran it until 1921 from Trafford Street in Farnworth.
