James Moorhouse (1872-1890)

James Moorhouse was listed as a Clock Dresser in 1872 this was at the marriage of his son Philip in Bolton at Fletcher Street Wesleyan Methodist Chapel.

Research has shown James was from Padiham near Burnley and he doesn’t appear to have moved to Bolton with his son, so can be discounted from the list of Bolton Watch Makers.

James Moorhouse (1818-1890)

A ‘Clock Dresser’ was someone who completed watch and clock repairers including the clean, service, repair and sometimes restoration of watches and clocks and, if they worked in a shop, may also have sold them.
