Born in 1825, Charles worked from properties in Mealhouse lane in 1848/9.
Charles was the father of John Ashall in 1848, before moving down to Church Bank by 1851.
He later moved on to Deansgate in 1853, and is shown in Bradshawgate also in 1853, then he moved 19 Great Moor St in 1869.

In 1881 he was presumably retired, and listed as a widower living 24 Oak Street, Farnworth.
