Wilfred Binns of 13 Nevada Street Bolton was listed as a watchmaker at the baptism of his daughter Pauline in 1935.
He was born on 18th May 1904 and lived with his family in 81 Church Avenue Farnworth where in 1921 was listed as Watch & Clock Makers Apprentice working for Proffit’s Jewellers in Gt Moor Street Bolton.
William married Edith Anne Roebuck on July 1st 1933.
He served in the Royal Army Ordinance Corps, and REME in WW2 on 26th January 1939, living at 19 Olaf Street, Bolton his number 7592976, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 1941. He was discharged on 28th November 1946 having earned the 1939/45 Star, The Africa Star and the Defence Medal.
His wife was listed living in Morecambe in 1947, where presumably he returned after discharge from thew Army.
It is unlikely that he made and sold clocks or watches in his own right.
