Kenneth Evans was the son of John Thomas Yates, of Walkden. He was Born on the 5th of June 1911, and lived in Bolton Road, Walkden.
John Thomas followed two trades, optician and Clock/Watchmaker. It seems likely that following his death his two sons each took a branch of his business, as Rex Evans Yates, became an Optician in Aberystwyth, while Kenneth became a clockmaker in Bolton, likely in the family premises at Bolton Road Walkden.
In 1936 John Thomas, married Ellen Seddon, at St. Pauls, Peel, Little Hulton, and they had two daughters. By the 1939 Census he was listed as a ‘Head Research Chemist’

Kenneth, who by then lived in Worsley, died on 4th September 1980.
