Stephen Winder Watchmaker was born on 20th July 1803 at Lancaster to his father Thomas Winder and mother Margaret Broadman.
Stephen moved to Liverpool where he married his wife Mary Cooney on Dec 24th 1836 at St Nicholas Church, in 1841 they lived in Anderson Court off Peter Street.
In 1838 they had a son Thomas, who was named after Stephen’s Father.
In 1848 they had a son, also called Stephen, who was born in Grosvenor St. St Peter, Liverpool.
Stephen and Mary, with their son, moved to Bolton, living on Princess Street off Bradshawgate in 1861.
Princess Street was at the centre of the old town, and a focus for the clock and watchmaking businesses.
The family had moved to Lancaster by 1870 where Stephen (Jnr.) had married.
Watchmaker Stephen Winder died in Lancaster in 1874
There are no known examples of his work whilst in Bolton.
