John Livesey was a high quality clock maker from Bolton, he was married at St Peter’s Parish Church in Great Bolton on 3rd March 1743, to an Elizabeth Bradly.
John and Elizabeth had at least two children Mary and John who were baptised on 13th May 1753.
His clocks were often engraved as ‘John Livesey de Bolton’ or ‘John Livesey Bolton’
A magnificent, George III, mahogany longcase clock by John Livesey De Bolton, having brass dial with raised chapter ring and moonphase to arch, 8-day striking movement. The hood having swan neck pediment with ball and spiral finials and rococo ormolu acanthus paterae, fretwork frieze and inlaid door flanked by reeded Corinthian columns, the trunk having fretwork decoration, beaded double arch door flanked by cluster pillars, flamed mahogany base with canted corners and bracket feet.
A Spanish Mahogany longcase clock by John Livesey Bolton circa 1750. With a 13-inch brass broken-arch dial signed over moon’s phase, with foliate scroll engraving to matted centre, circular date aperture and subsidiary seconds; the eight-day movement with inside countwheel bell strike, in moulded arch top case surmounted by turned wood finials, blind fret, picture frame hood door, double ogee trunk door and applied panel to base.
