John was born into a watchmaking family the son of John or William (to be confirmed), he was settled in Over Hulton, living in 61 St Hellen’s Road. He was described as a Watchmaker and Jeweller (Finisher) in the census.
He may have had a store at number 89 Bridgeman Street, and 61 St Helens Road, before his death in 1873.
