Egerton C. Gilbert (1861 – 1898)

Egerton Cappur Gilbert, was born during 1840 in Leeds, the son of a Methodist Association Minister. By 1861 he was a watchmaker living in Wellington Street Salford.

He married Isabella Ellen Brooks an embroiderer of Folds Road, Little Bolton at St George’s Church, Little Bolton, in 1863.

St George’ Church as they would have known in before the interior was remodelled.

They lived at 174 Bradford Terrace, Tong with Haulgh.

Egerton Gilbert formed a partnership with George Monk and by 1868, Monk and Gilbert were working out of 8 Deansgate.

Egerton Gilbert moved his business to 13 High Street Nantwich Cheshire, by 1881, where he subsequently died on 22nd July 1898.
